Description
Ikarus had presented the new series 200 in 1968. It featured a variety of models from inner city transport to luxurious coaches. The city bus 260.02 and its articulated version 280.02 became the backbone of inner city transportation in East Germany from the mid 1970s until the 1990s, when more modern types became available after the German reunification. However, many were used in schoolbus and similar services for quite some time, before being sold in the late 1990s.
On lines, where the 260 is too small, the articulated version might be a good choice. It takes the advantages of the 260 model and adds a trailer for more capacity. However, this comes at the price of a slightly lower top speed.

I have not found any suitable photos of these busses in East Germany. However, they are still widely used in Eastern Europe, so I took photos from there. Apart from the licence plates, the differences are negligible. Especially note the standard yellow colour.
