The German Road Vehicle Set is (as the name implies) a vehicle set for Transport Tycoon Deluxe. It includes a variety of busses, trams and trucks from 1921 to the present and is also compatible to the Extended Cargo Scheme currently being developed.

Why this set?

Well, there are several reasons:

  • There is the excellent DBSetXL, offering all kinds of trains - in contrast, there are no road vehicles to complement this set.
  • With TTDPatch or OpenTTD, the game can be started in 1921 or even earlier. However, the first road vehicles are introduced years later (unless you use some vehicle set which offers early road vehicles). Therefore a selection of early vehicles is included.
  • There have been quite some famous companies producing road vehicles in Germany in the past. It is impossible to include such models in an international vehicle set (in fact, it is even impossible to include all companies in this set).
  • With articulated vehicles and trams being possible, a lot of new possibilities for nice-looking road vehicles are given.

To make this set different from other sets out there, I focus on the following points:

  • usage of two company colors instead of fixed painting schemes
  • original TTD scale, since the LongVehicles by George are simply too large for my personal taste
  • several versions of trucks (including trailers and semitrailers) for all the various goods that can be transported

The current version contains all busses and trams. To make the set playable, enhanced versions of the original trucks are included as well.
