Description
As the DMUs like the "Hamburg flyer" provided very impressive performances, this type was created as EMU for more challenging lines in South Germany. Starting in the mid 1930s it was in use for long-distance services between Stuttgart and Munich.
After World War II other lines were added as well, following the electrification efforts at the time. Finally these units also came to Frankfurt or Salzburg. However, with the limited capacity they could not cope with the ever rising demand, leading to their retirement in 1961.
In the set these are the first EMUs for long-distance travel and can be used in parallel to the SVT-137. Of course the usage depends on the availability of electrified lines, and if higher capacities are needed this type might be the wrong choice as well.
