Description

This DMU utilizes tilting technology to run faster on lines with many curves. It was also marketed as "RegioSwinger", describing the regional services it was developed for. On many lines the travel times could be reduced considerably, but there were also quite a number of cases where passengers got motion sickness...

The type had quite some teething problems with the axles and the tilting technology, it took until the 2010s to sort it all out. Since then they are reliable and have replaced a bunch of older types. The services concentrate on branch lines with many curves in Franconia, Thuringia and Southwest Germany.

In the set this is the most modern DMU for regional services. It is an obvious choice for lines with tight corners where the tilting technology provides benefits (no speed reduction in tight corners).
