Description
This type was developed by Tatra specifically for the cities in East Germany. The were the most modern trams to be taken into service in East Germany in the late 1980s. Deliveries continued until 1991 when - due to German reunification - products from Tatra fell out of favor. They still produced the type throughout the 1990s and delivered it to cities Hungary and Bulgaria. In East Germany, the type did not remain in service for very long, in most cities the type was already sidelined between 2007 and 2013. In some cases even the older T4 types remained in service after that.
