Description
For a new Volkswagen production plant in Dresden, the so-called transparent factory, material delivery is done with a cargo tram to avoid clogging the city center with trucks. To do that, a completely new type of tram was developed. Starting in 2001, it ran on an hourly schedule to deliver the factory. Operation ended in 2020 after Volkswagen changed the types of cars that are built in that factory.
