Starting in 1987 one can buy local coaches in the so-called "product colors", which are then changed to red by 1996. It is not really clear whether these coaches are just "silverling" coaches in new livery or whether they should represent a different type. As they also differ in their loading speed from the "silverling" coaches, I tend to say they are a different type.

The most fitting coach is probably the local coach type "Halberstadt". These were developed in East Germany, but after the German reunification and with some modernizations quite a number of them were also in service in former West Germany. To the untrained eye they look very similar to "silverling" coaches anyway, as far as positioning of the doors and structuring of the interior is concerned.

The class 111 is used for fast regional services, here with red local coaches. Funnily enough, these are actually a downgrade compared to the S-Bahn coaches that are used with these engines in the 1980s.

Usage

These coaches are the most recent local coaches and as such they are without any competition. There are some EMUs and DMUs in the game that overwrite the characteristics of these coaches, optimizing them for faster passenger exchange.
